Loy Krathong Festival
The Loy Krathong Festival is celebrated with great aplomb during November. Throughout Bangkok, vast throngs of crowds converge upon canals and rivers to set out small Kratongs of banana and cork leaves. Every Krathong contains three sticks of incense, a candle, and flower. Before the Krathong is floated in the water, the incense sticks and candles are lit up and people make a wish. The Krungthep or Krung Thon Bridge offers the best views of this spectacle. Major historical sites and other important buildings are also brilliantly illuminated and traditional Thai cultural performances add further life to the occasion.
World Opera Week
The Thailand Cultural Centre in Bangkok ends the year with a bang. This is the venue for the World Opera Week and international performances set the stage on fire. In the past, Beethoven concerts have remained a hot favourite choice.
New Year Celebrations
New Year Celebrations just rock Bangkok and ensure a gala time for tourists and locals alike. Celebrations take a different flavour in different areas of the city.
